The Long Night

Unraveled my day spills before me
In a long tangled cord
My needle slips down and under
Up and through
Pulling a loop of sleep

Fingers flow
Rocked by rhythmic clicks
The cat is a crescent moon at my feet
As my needles grow heavy

Rows and rows grow across my lap
Stitching myself together
Through the long night
